Performing last night on Stephen Colbert, Elton John, now 70 years old, is still standing. It’s an amazing feat, with over thirty studio albums and eight soundtracks under his belt—so much so, that he’s releasing a triple-disc-box-set of his greatest hits called Diamonds. Why “Diamonds”? As Elton John simply says, “I came up with the title Diamonds because I like diamonds.” Colbert also mentions that he was once in an Elton John cover band in the third grade called “Nebula 5,” (which I desperately tried searching for a video). Watch the full interview and Elton’s performance of his hit “I’m Still Standing” below.
