If there was anyone I was most excited to hear from during the current political climate, it was Killer Mike. He’s used the Run the Jewels outfit partnered with producer/rapper El-P to powerfully comment on the Ferguson riots in 2014 on “Early,” and was a strong supporter of Bernie Sanders’ campaign for President.
On “Walking in the Snow,” the duo are joined by Gangsta Boo, a founding member of Three 6 Mafia, to comment on the killing of George Floyd. “And you so numb, you watch the cops choke out a man like me,” Killer Mike raps, “until my voice goes from a shriek to whisper, ‘I can’t breathe.'”
