October presented amazing album releases from Danny Brown, Kash Doll, YK Osiris, Gucci Mane, rising star Guapdad 4000, and the return of Black Moon, but this month also held a lot of big rap events, such as the BET Hip-Hop Award Cyphers and Netflix’s latest rap-focused reality competition show, Rhythm + Flow.

The breakout winner of Rhythm + Flow, however, was almost a given from the beginning, with D’ Smoke, the brother of West Coast T.D.E.-signee SiR, blowing the competition away with the performance of his song “Last Supper.”

Produced by Sounwave, one of T.D.E.’s in-house producers and co-mastermind behind some of Kendrick Lamar’s biggest songs such as “King Kunta” and “Mortal Man,” D’ Smoke glides into the To Pimp a Butterfly pocket on “Last Supper,” showcasing what the Inglewood MC has in store for us in the future.
